First up, the original mix of ‘Future Shock‘ from my first Body Rhythm release of the year has hit the Beatport Deep House Top 100.

It first entered at No.85 on Sunday and has since worked it’s way up to No.64.

Meanwhile, my remix of Rasmus Faber Ft Beldina – ‘Good Times Come Back‘ on Farplane Records has been steadily climbing up the charts over at Traxsource since it was released their last week.

It’s currently at No.20 on the Soulful chart, and No.32 on the overall Traxsource Top 100.

Traxsource has been a good site for me lately as ‘Ross Couch Ft Lazarusman – ‘Wide Open Spaces (Organic Mix)‘ also reached No.20 on the Soulful chart, while my ‘Travelogue‘ compilation rose to No.8 on the album chart when it came out in December.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come in 2012.  Thanks to everyone who’s been buying the tracks, very much appreciated!

The good news is that everything’s now been sorted and the release is officially out on the store this week, and the good people at Traxsource have even included it in their ‘Essential Soulful 20‘ selection for this week.

To get the New Year off on the right foot I wanted to let you know that you can now buy my music from Amazon.com.

This follows hot on the heels of my previous announcement that the music is also now up on iTunes as well.

Both sites now carry the entire Body Rhythm Records back catalogue and will be constantly updated with the new releases when they come out.

I had originally planned to put out a standard ‘best of 2011′ compilation to end the year, but then I decided to switch things up a little and do something I’ve had in the back of my mind for a while which is to compile all the tracks I’ve written on the label that were written with a specific destination around the world in mind.

As I started to sift through the back catalogue I realized there was a whole bunch of tracks that could fit in to the general ‘travel’ theme – for example, ‘Bon Voyage’, ‘Lost In Translation’ and ‘The Traveling Man’ would all have worked.

In the end though there were just too many tracks and in an effort to whittle it down I decided to keep it strictly to tracks that referred to actual places.   I think it also helps to make the theme of the compilation more obvious and immediate to the casual listener who’s just flicking through a pile of tracks on one of the online stores.

In the end that left me with eight tracks which span the globe from Detroit to Rio, Paris to Tokyo, the Bronx to Spain and even from The Shaolin Temple to Outer Space!

I’m happy to say that the release, which came out yesterday, is already featured on Beatport’s Deep House page this week.  ‘Deep In Detroit’, which is the lead track on it is also featured on the Traxsource ‘Essential Deep 20′ list for the week.

Further good news is that this one’s not on promo so you can get it at normal prices and it’s available at all the usual  stores, with iTunes and Amazon to follow in January.

This one is available to buy on promo now exclusively from Beatport.com with the other stores to follow at the turn of the year.

This one came about thanks to perfect timing.  Lazarus contacted me to suggest we do something together just as I was working on a rough version of a track I’d titled ‘Wide Open Spaces’.  I sent it to him and he got to work on writing and performing the spoken word lyrics soon after.

At the time the big chords were already there, but after getting his vocal back, which did a great job of capturing the feel of the track, I then re-wrote the rhythm, bass and lead melody to arrive at the final version.  I then started from scratch again with just the vocal to produce an alternative ‘Organic Remix’ and also recorded instrumental mixes of both to round out the package.

I did have a few white label releases, etc before that, but the 12″ release of ‘Ross Couch – ‘The Rhythm‘ on Panther Records was really the first “proper” one.

Since then I’ve lost count of the number of tracks that have come out…probably over 200, including around 25-30 vinyl releases, more than 30 EP’s and counting on my Body Rhythm label, dozens of remixes and compilation CD appearances, and of course not forgetting one album.

There’s been a lot of ups and downs along the way…probably more of the latter than the former if I’m being totally honest – the music business can be a cruel mistress at times!

Despite all that I’ve somehow never become bored with making music and still love that feeling when a moment of inspiration strikes and a new track is born.

Thanks to everyone who has supported my music over the years, and here’s hoping there’s more than a few still to come.
