November: Audio Mix-Up
Well
it looks like I spoke to soon yesterday as the audio problem
with 'Samurai' (The music playing in the track preview is my
remix of 'Indigo' when it should be Fabien's original mix of
'Samurai) on Beatport is back again this morning. It's obviously
some sort of unusual technical glitch on the site so hopefully
the problem can be located and fixed for good today. Unfortunately
we've now missed out on the best part of a weeks sales on the
site for that track.
Meanwhile
My own mix of Fabien's track 'Indigo' continues to rise up the
Deep House chart, now at No.22. Check out the release now at
BEATPORT

November: Body Rhythm & Body Rhythm Black Releases Out Now!
Usually
getting the releases up for their Beatport promo goes pretty
smoothly but we hit a bit of bumpy road with this one. On Monday
morning due to some kinf of error neither release appeared on
the site. Luckily we deal directly with Beatport and so were
able to get in touch with them about it and by lunchtime my
'The Sound Of The Streets EP" on Body Rhythm was up. The
new Fabien Kamb release 'Indigo / Samurai EP' however has proven
to be a bit more problematic and one of the tracks in particular
'Samurai' has only went live on the site late this afternoon.
Speaking to the technical guys at Beatport they think it was
some kind of encoding error.
So
not a great way for Fabien to kick off his debut release but
on the positive side my own remix of the 'Indigo' track from
the EP has made it's way to No.28 on the Deep House chart which
is pretty good going considering the initial problems we've
had. The original mixes found on the 'Sound of The Streets EP'
have also entered the Deep House Top 100 and that EP is also
currently featured on the Deep House page at Beatport.

on the images below to be taken directly to the EP's on Beatport...

Today
I started work on another remix, this time of a Javi Lopez track
'Fuzz Tactic' for Lucas Keiser's Homesick Recordings.

November: Weekend Update
Check
out the Press
Section for all the reactions to my new 'Sound Of The Streets
EP' which hits Beatport for a 4 week promo tomorrow. It's
going to be a busy week as we've also got the debut release
from Fabien Kamb - "Indigo / Samurai EP"
including a remix from myself lined up on Body Rhythm Black
for it's Beatport promo.
---
Whilst
it's great to have to have some new releases on the way I must
give a special mention to the previous 'Second Nature EP'
which continues to sell well. Sometime in the next few days
I'm expecting it to become the 3rd best selling release on the
label (after 'Body Rhythm Remixed Vol.1' & the 'Showstoppa
EP'). In the past week it reached No.1 on the 'Soul' chart on
STOMPY, where both Raoul Belmans
and Andrew Phelan are both currently charting 'Dive
In' for the release. Over at BEATSDIGITAL 'Dive
in' has climbed to No.1 on the Deep House chart (No.11 in the
overall sales chart) whilst 'A New System' is also up to No.3
on their Tech House Sales Chart. 'Woman' is also spending it's
2nd week in the Top 10 overall sales chart at WASABEAT
(currently at No.5).
---
I've
been busy planning the next Body Rhythm Remixed EP which will
come out early next year. 5 talented producers are currently
working on their remixes for the release and I hope to get 1
more on board in the near future.l I won't say who they all
are at the moment (oh, the suspense!) but I'm delighted to say
that Kirby (who's remix of 'Playin' Jazz' on the first Remx
EP is the biggest single track on the label to date ) confirmed
this week that he'll be back to work his magic again as part
of the EP.

October: New Ross Couch EP Ready For Release on Body Rhythm!
Good
news today that my new 'Sound Of The Streets EP' is finished
and will be the next release on Body Rhythm. I'm happy to say
that I've got a couple of great producers on remix duty for
the release. In demand Dutch producer Tommy Largo (Kolour, Guesthouse,
Control, Lost My Dog) and Chicago veteran Bryan Jones (Control,
I Records, Farris Wheel, Aroma) give the remix treatment to
"The Sound Of The Streets" and "Dark Days"
respectively making this a strong package that's not to be missed.
Promos are out to DJ's this afternoon and hopefully the EP will
be out in a couple of weeks time. I'll try to get sound clips
up on myspace in the next couple of days.
---
I'm
currently working on a remix of Leon Du Star & Talkbox Mayhem's
"When The Sun Comes Down" for Control Recordings.
This will be part of a remix package that will follow on from
the original release which is on Beatport promo right now.
---
Fabien
Kamb's 'Indigo / Samurai EP inc Ross Couch Remix' (Body Rhythm
Black 004) is now complete and in the hands of the DJ's ahead
of it's promo release on Beatport in a couple of weeks time.
Early support already emerging from Scope, Spiritchaser, Lukas
Greenberg, Da Funk and more.

October: Update Part 2
I'm
happy to say that I've made a new signing to the Body Rhythm
Black label. Fabien Kamb is a new artist from Montreal,
Canada who'll be making his debut on the label with the 'Indigo
/ Samurai EP'. This is a great EP of deep and tech influences
with real depth and some clever touches. I am currently working
on a remix of 'Indigo' to complete the package which will become
the 4th release due out within the next month or so.
.jpg)
Also
on Body Rhythm Black I have arranged for the impressive Latenta
Project trio (Proton, Sick Watana, Deepology), who hail
from the Republic Of Macedonia, to remix a track from my latest
System Check EP. They have a really nice melodic style that
I've been enjoying a lot lately. This release was intended to
be next out on the label but to give the guys time to complete
their mix I've now pushed it back to be the 5th release instead.
Look out for it probably around late November.

October: Latest News Update
Sorry
for the lack of updates in the last couple of weeks but rest
assured I've been keeping busy and have some good stuff coming
up in the very near future. Before I get to that though I should
let you all know that both the Ross Couch -Second Nature
EP on Body Rhythm and System Check - Rise & Fall
EP on Body Rhythm Black have now finished off their promo
runs and are out in all the usual stores right now.
Since
I started the labels I've noticed with interest how different
tracks perform better on different sites. For instance with
the latest Body Rhythm EP, 'A New System' was the most
popular track on the EP during the promo run on BEATPORT
perhaps because of it sits closest to the
deep/tech sound that's in favour at the moment. However on DANCE
RECORDS for instance 'Dive In'
is selling better - as I type this it's at No.3 on their overall
sales chart for the past week, and it's also one of the featured
tracks of the week at BEATS
DIGITAL. Meanwhile 'Woman', the
most soulful track on the EP has found favour on TRAXSOURCE,
where it helped the EP into their Top 100 Sales chart and it's
also made it's way to No.5 on the House Chart at Japanese site
WASABEAT.
---
I've
got to head off now but come back tomorrow for news of a new
signing to the Body Rhythm Black label and also find out who
I've got lined up to remix tracks from both labels in the coming
weeks!

October: Remixes For Body Rhythm
I've
completed two tracks for my new Body Rhythm EP "The Sound
Of The Streets" which are sounding good and I've lined
up a couple of talented producers to give them the remix treatment.
Apart from the 'Body Rhythm Remixed' series (the 2nd volume
of which I'm aiming to put together in a few months) which was
a huge success I've rarely commissioned remixes for the label
due to time constraints so it's a nice opportunity to change
things up a little. I'll keep the names of the remixers quiet
until nearer the release date so stay tuned for more info!
I'm
happy to say the next System Check release on Body Rhythm Black
is also taking shape and advance promos to DJ's might be going
out sometime in the coming week if all goes well.
---
Meanwhile
my latest Body Rhythm release 'Second Nature EP' is approaching
it's final week on promo at Beatport and is already one of the
labels most successful promos to date. Looking forward to seeing
how it does when it hits other stores a week on Monday.

September: New Distribution Deal For The Body Rhythm labels!
I
bring good news today as I'm happy to announce that I've just
signed up to a new digital distribution deal for the Body Rhythm
& Body Rhythm Black labels. Until now I've been distributing
the releases on the labels to some of the major digital download
sites directly, bypassing the need for a distributor. In
that regard nothing is going to change - I'll
still be cutting out the middle man to deal directly to Beatport,
Traxsource, Stompy, Juno Download, Clickgroove / Xpressbeats,
DJDownload, Primal, Wasabeat and BeatsDigital.
However
there's many other sites out their that I just don't have the
time and resources to reach. My new deal with DanceRecords.com's
new Digital Download Service now ensures that the labels will
now be available on a whole host of other stores as well. This
includes major sites like iTunes, Napster, Amazon and eMusic
as well as some great niche sites like DanceTracksDigital,
Trackitdown and Audio Jelly to name but a few. In all it
should increase the total number of stores i'm on from 10 to
aprox 100! This isn't going to mean 10 times the amount of sales
I'll be making for each release (although I certainly wouldn't
complain if it did!), sites that i'm already on like Beatport
are still the biggest sellers for dance music, but it will help
the labels grow and reach a new audience, whilst giving existing
supporters more choice as to where to buy the releases.
---
Not
much else to report. I went to the dentist yesterday and found
out I need to get a wisdom tooth yanked out so I spent much
of the rest of the day feeling sorry for myself!

September: Quick Update
Things
have been a bit disrupted in the last week or so but i've managed
to come up with a couple of tracks that should work well for
my next EP on Body Rhythm. Meanwhile the Second Nature EP
continues to be picking up a lot of praise so thanks to those
who've been supporting that one (including the Spiritchaser
guys who just charted 'A New System' at No.3 on their Beatport
chart this month).
---
Latest
news on the licensing front is that Ross Couch - 'Playin'
Jazz (Kirby Remix)' has been selected to appear on the
"East - Volume Lotus" double Mix CD. This
is the 3rd in a series of Mix CD's released by the 'Wax N Soul'
label in conjunction with the impressively designed 'East' hotel
located in Hamburg, Germany (http://east-hamburg.de/).
Expect this one to hit stores in November.

The
twelfth release on Body Rhythm hit BEATPORT

There's been some really great DJ reactions for this EP which
you can check out in the press section and in the past 24hrs

who've just had a chance to hear the tracks so thanks to those
who took the time to do so - it's very much appreciated so keep
them coming!
---
I
just finished work on remixing the Ronan track "What Do
You Know" on Onethirty Recordings so look out for that
one coming out soon. I'm still waiting on parts for the other
remixes I have in the pipelin so in the meantime I'm going to
be making some headway on writing some tracks for the next bunch
of EP's on the Body Rhythm labels.

September : New DJ Mix On Air This Monday
With
the engineering work now almost complete for the new Purobeach
Desert Lounge 2 CD (Meerkat Music), I'm looking forward to making
a start on the Ronan remix for Onethirty Recordings on Monday.

I've
recorded a new DJ mix for DJ Amir's 'Monday Deep Session'
radio show on Push
FM and it airs this Monday at 8pm (GMT).
Other recent guest DJ's on the show include Terry Lee Brown
Jr, Shur-I-Kan and Solomun. The mix will be similar in style
to the "Deep In The Tronics" mix I did earlier on
in the year (if you haven't heard that one then give it a listen
now in the 'music' section). Don't worry if you miss the show,
it'll be archived so I'll post a link to that when it goes online.

Over
the weekend I agreed to do another couple of remixes (I'll let
you know names when things have been finalised) so, along with
the other work I mentioned at the end of last week it's going
to be a busy period for me coming up. Sadly I've had to turn
down another remix opportunity this afternoon that i'd have
liked to have been involved with as i'm not sure when I'd have
had a chance to start work on it. Not an easy call to make but
it's important to make sure that I have enough time to do each
remix justice.

August 2008: New EP Ready
It's
been a hectic week but i'm glad to say that my new Ross Couch
release on Body Rhythm, to be called the 'Second Nature
EP' is finished and advance promos are on there way to
the top DJ's this afternoon. I mentioned a few posts previously
that this was going to be a 4 track release but in the end I
think the EP works better as a 3 tracker, so the jackin' jazzy
track that I've been working on will be held back for a future
release.
---
Normally
at this stage, with new Body Rhythm and Body Rhythm Black releases
in the bag I'd be winding down for a couple of days but no such
luck this time. In the next few days I'll be starting work on
engineering the latest Purobeach release - 'Desert
Lounge 2'. This franchise started out on Bargrooves
but is now released through Meerkat Music, still under
the guidance of Bargrooves founder Ben Sowton.
As
well as this I've also agreed to do another remix for Onethirty
Recordings. This time I'll be working under my System Check
alias and will be getting my hands on a new track from Ronan
who's last release on the label was a Top 10 Deep House Chart
smash on Beatport.
Finally
at the weekend I'm also going to be recording a DJ mix for DJ
Amir's 'Monday Deep Session' show on Push FM.
This will be broadcast on September 8th.
---
Also
whilst I'm here I wanted to mention that the Beatsdigital
download site are encouraging users to review tracks both on
their site and on their Blog
which seems like a good idea to me. Already I've been fortunate
enough to recieve a couple of reviews for the current System
Check release which arrived on the site this week. You can read
Silky Jack's review of 'After The Drought' here
and David Abutbul's review of 'Epicenter' here.
Thanks to both guys for taking the time to write down their
thoughts on the EP, definitely appreciated!

Getting
close to finishing off my new Body Rhythm EP, hopefully will
be sending promos out to the DJ's by the end of the week. Meanwhile
hot on the heels of the 2nd Body Rhythm Black release mentioned
above I've sent out promos of the new one called System Check
- "Rise & Fall EP" this week. Feedback has been
very strong already for this 3 tracker so i'm looking forward
to getting it up on Beatport promo in a couple of weeks time.

Jevne's
Onethirty Recordings are currently celebrating their
30th release with a release titled 'Onethirty Mixed 001'.
It's a continuous mix that features some of the labels best
tracks over the years and includes Christian Malloni's
remix of my own track 'Rising Up' plus the remix I
did of Emil Lanne's 'Beat Street' for the label along
with other tracks from artists like Ronan, edmund, Chuck
Love, Jay Tripwire and of course Jevne himself.

August 2008: The 6 Week Cycle
Things
are pretty busy here at the moment as I work to finish off the
latest EP's for the Body Rhythm & Body Rhythm Black labels.
Since nearly all of the releases on the labels are written by
myself I don't tend to have a big release schedule planned out
months in advance.
My
general aim is to have a release on each label out every 6 weeks
(This gives time for the 4 week promo period on Beatport and
a further 2 weeks for the release to hit the rest of the stores
before the next release comes along and the cycle starts again)
and so far I've managed to keep to that. I usually send out
my promos to the tastemaker DJ's about 2 weeks ahead of it going
up for sale on Beatport so that I can gather some solid feedback
to help promote the release when it comes out. Things can get
a bit hectic as the next release date looms and tracks are still
waiting to be finished! Often times I'll finish an EP and then
it's off to the DJ's within 24hrs to keep to the schedule.
Of
course if I didn't think the tracks were ready I'd just delay
the schedule a week or two. So far I've been lucky though. Since
I started the Body Rhythm label last year I've been quite prolific
so coming up with new tracks hasn't been too much of a struggle.
There's been times in previous years where I've went weeks without
finding inspiration in the studio but I think a lot of that
was trying too hard to second guess what record labels would
want from me rather than going with my own instincts. Having
my own labels now allows me to just do what I want too and that's
helped me a lot.
Anyway,
the forthcoming EP's are both going to be bumper editions, with
my new Body Rhythm EP being a versatile 4 tracker including
a minimal deep tech track, an emotive deep houser and a jackin'
jazzy number. Meanwhile the new System Check release on Body
Rhythm Black will feature 3 tracks aimed at the melodic deep
tech sound. Both releases should surface around the early part
of September, check back on the site for more details nearer
the time.

PS.
I've updated the 'Press' section of the site with a selection
of DJ reactions for releases spanning back to 2006.

August 2008: August Beatport Chart
My
August chart for Beatport
is now up on the site featuring some great tracks from the likes
of Shur-I-Kan, The Youngsters, Solee and a couple from myself
from the new EP on Body Rhythm. Be sure to check out the 'Charts'
section of the site for all my recent charts on some of the
major digital sites.
I've
also updated the discography part of the site, including tracking
down images for a lot of the Mix CD's I've appeared on over
the years (you'll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page
to see that).

August 2008: Update Part 3
Along
with writing tracks for my Body Rhythm labels I've also worked
on a few remixes for other artists lately. Da Funk - Sativa
(Ross Couch Remix) came out today on Acryl Music so keep
an eye out for that on Beatport
where It's just started it's 4 week promo period. Lots of good
DJ reactions of that one so I'll add those to the 'Press' section
of the site when I get round to updating it in the near future
(I'm starting to update other sections of the site now so bear
with me whilst I dust away a few of the cobwebs!).
Also
out recently was Emil Lanne - Beat Street (Ross Couch Remix)
on Onethirty. I noticed that Jay-J charted this one on Traxsource
last month calling it a "Funky, groovin, dance floor dubby
track" so that pretty much sums it up! This one is available
now from all good download stores.
Coming
out soon is my remix of J.P.Phillipe's 'Providence Of The
Cosmos' on the Disclosure Project label. The original track
has some great instrumentation, including some great orchestral
style strings so it was fun to work on that one. Also in the
pipeline is my mix of Andrew Phelan & Origami's "Gimme
A Beat" on Prismatic tracks.

August 2008: Update part 2
There's
been a few compilation CD licenses in the works recently that
I haven't got round to mentioning on the myspace page so here's
all the info. Firstly, Illusive ft keely - 'Summer In September'
(Illusive is another alias of mine) appears on 'KM5
Ibiza Volumen 8' which is out now. Also
available now is the Kirby Remix of Ross Couch - Playin' Jazz
on a re-issue of 'Purobeach
Volument Tres'. The track is only
available on the re-issued version though, not the
orginal version that came out in 2007.

The
downtempo 'Summer In September' track is proving popular as
i'm also in the process of licensing this to a Japanese compilation,
more details on that when I get it. Meanwhile two tracks: Ross
Couch - 'Bon Voyage' and Illusive - 'Soul child' have been licensed
to a Mix CD for a Yacht management company called YCO.
A little bit different from the norm, this CD will be available
exclusively at Yacht shows in the UK & France. last week
I also licensed the Kirby Rmx of 'Playin' Jazz' to German label
H&G for a
compilation called 'Die Wellenreiter'.
This will be available on CD and to buy as a bundle, distributed
through intergroove Germany.
Finally
a couple of other licenses to mention are my track 'The Sunday
Matinee' appearing on veteran Dutch DJ b-ART's digital only
compilation 'DJD
bArt Vol.1' which is available exclusively
at www.djdomain.com
and also 'Rhythm Is our Business (Original Mix) which is out
on another digital only comp called 'Baldeelox
- The Tour 2008 pt.1'. Both of these are
available now.
Keep
an eye out for the next update when I'll be giving details on
my recent remix work.

August 2008: Update Part 1
Back
online at last! After over a year of being unable to update
the site (due to losing the password when I changed computers)
I've finally found time to move the site to another server and
get it back up and running. A lot of the site content is well
out of date now so I'll need to do a bit of tidying up over
the next week or so to get it back up to speed.
For
those of you who didn't know, since the website has been in
limbo i've got myself a myspace page: www.myspace.com/rosscouch
which i've been updating with news and track previews so it's
a good way to keep in the loop.
If
you haven't been aware of what i've been up to, here's a quick
update on a couple of the main things. In my last entry on this
site back in the early part of '07 I was mentioning that I was
planning to start my own digital label. Well, shortly afterwards
I did just that. I now run a label called Body Rhythm Records
(www.myspace.com/bodyrhythmrecords)
which is where I have been releasing my music for the past year
or so. It's been going well and has definitely been keeping
me busy, with 11 EP's released to date!
The label has just had it's biggest success to date with it's
10th release - the 'Body Rhythm Remixed Vol.1' EP which saw
several remixers doing their interpretation on tracks from the
back catalogue. The Kirby remix of 'Playin' Jazz' has been a
huge success on th world's leading dance music download site
Beatport,
reaching No.1 on the Deep House Sales Chart and has stayed on
that chart for 6 weeks now in total (still at No.9 as I write
this!). My own remix of another successful track on the label
'Rhythm Is Our Business' was also named Stompy.com
'Track Of The Week' and is currently climbing up their competitive
Top 100 Sales Chart (currently at No.88). This week I've released
a New EP on the label on promo at Beatport which you can get
at this link: Ross
Couch - 'Flightpath EP'.

With
the original label doing well I've also recently launched a
sister label Body Rhythm Black (www.myspace.com/bodyrhythmblack)
where I'm writing more tracks under an older alias of mine 'System
Check'. If your interested you can get your hands on the second
release on the label at Beatport at this link: System
Check - Epicenter / After The Drought.

I've
got to go now, but I'll update with more of what's been happening
recently tomorrow.
